Philosophical Coaching
Never heard of Philosophical Coaching? Think of it as having your own personal philosopher to help you figure out life.
Like a cross between a life coach, a counselor, and Socrates, (if Socrates were a down-to-earth mom with a Ph.D.).
More specifically, Philosophical Coaching uses critical inquiry and a deep knowledge of wisdom from thousands of years of human thought to help you understand your own patterns of thinking and live a more self-aware and flourishing life.
Here are some examples of the things I can help you with:
Examine hidden beliefs that may be holding you back
Articulate your values and priorities
Make difficult decisions
Work through moral dilemmas
Explore questions of meaning and purpose
Navigate shifts in identity and self-image
Figure out your spiritual beliefs
Define and explore your personal life philosophy
Depending on your desires and inclinations, I will sometimes suggest readings that we then discuss and apply to your situation. I also offer specialized support to new mothers.
In Individual Philosophical coaching, you and I have a direct conversation about whatever you would like to discuss philosophically. Individual coaching sessions may be conducted by phone, video chat, or in person (in Portland, OR). See my Rates and Frequently Asked Questions to learn more. I also offer Practical Philosophy Workshops.

The Inner Reckoning Private Philosophical Coaching Program
The Inner Reckoning Program is for you if you are ready to make major shifts in aligning your life, work, words, and relationships with your values, dreams, and desires. This program will bring you results the quickest and with the most support, and it is tailored specifically to your situation, needs, and day-to-day evolving challenges. Over the course of one year, you will get ongoing weekly one-on-one coaching to build connection, trust, and space for transformation.
We will meet weekly for 75-minutes each meaning, for 12 months. During these meetings, we will talk, do exercises and meditations, journaling, and visualizations. I may suggest readings for you to do, podcasts to listen to, things to watch, etc. And I may also suggest exercises or “homework” for you to do between sessions so that you can keep progressing towards your goals.

The Bravely Examined Life Philosophical Coaching Program
The Bravely Examined Life is a community-based program. The Bravely Examined Life is for you if you’re craving depth, growth, and meaningful change—and you don’t want to do it alone.
This program offers the insight of philosophical coaching with the power of shared witness, mutual support, and collective wisdom. You’ll journey alongside a small cohort of 6–8 thoughtful, courageous people who are also asking big questions and making brave changes in their lives.
We’ll meet 3 times a month for 90-minute sessions over the course of a year. Each session includes a mix of group conversation, philosophical teachings, experiential exercises, reflection practices, and optional sharing. You’ll have opportunities for one-on-one coaching in the group setting, and you'll also learn from the questions, breakthroughs, and perspectives of others. This is one of the great gifts of working in community: you’ll see yourself more clearly in the mirror of other people’s stories.
